DIY Flower Hair Pin

*how to make this adorable hair pin*

-step one-
cut the square of felt into 12 even pieces. the squares do not need to be exact, this is to ensure that the flowers are of a uniform size should you choose to make more than one

-step two-
fold one square in half. using a pair of sharp scissors, cut a semi circle to make a full circle when unfolded. trim the circle as necessary.

-step three-
cut the circle in a spiral, trimming a small piece off to make uniform.
-step four-
beginning from the outside edge, being to curl the felt in a coil. place a dab of hot glue to secure the beginning of the coil.

-step five-
finish wrapping the felt around itself. secure the end with hot glue.

-step six-
from a felt square, cut out 2 leaves and two small circles

-step seven-
glue one circle on to the back of the flower. take a bobby pin and put the other small circle through it. glue the circle with the bobby pin onto the circle on the back of the flower. hold in place for a moment to allow the glue to set.

-step eight-
glue on leaves

-step nine-
wear it and love it :)

There's a first for everything....

Tonight I ventured into unknown but welcomed territory. A friend was hosting a purse party at her house and welcomed me to bring my jewelry to show. So nervous little me scraped up a surprisingly adorable table display and brought my things over.

Everyone was shockingly punctual to this party, but apparently if you want the good purses you come early, put 5 on your arm that you may want, and go about browsing. I stood by my little table and waited for someone to come my way. Eventually, people had their pick of bags and came to me. It felt great to get a little attention and be able to talk about my crafts.

After all was said and done, I sold a good chunk of my inventory!! I cannot even express how excited I am about how tonight went. In addition to the sells, I had many people grab business cards and tell me that they were going to spread the word about The Bluebell Fox to friends.

A Long story, a long night, and exactly half of a peach cosmo later (actually amazing so I'm posting the recipe below...) I am running on the taste of victory and I'm officially ready to take on the world!!!

Waiting Rooms and Wind Storms

A week or two back my grandma went in for a routine doctor's check up and was send immediately to the emergency room to deal with an issue presenting itself in her heart. After all was said and done, surgery was a must.

We all had a family meal on Wednesday, which I must admit kind of felt like "Lets eat with grandma incase things go wrong". Needless to say, it was tense, but we all wound up having a very fun night together. Thursday morning (5 AM to be exact) was it. Our little herd took over a tiny hospital room and waited for someone to bring her up to surgery. After hours upon hours passed, her surgeon finally came out to tell all 9 of us that things had gone flawlessly and she was in recovery.

It is now Saturday afternoon. It is absolutely remarkable to me that someone who had part of their heart replaced just 48 hours ago looks like normal, has a sense of humor, and can walk a slow lap around the ICU. It makes me feel horribly guilty for ever complaining about any type of physical pain. :) To sum it up, go grandma!!!

Turns out, sitting in a hospital waiting room is a perfect time to use art to set your mind at ease. Somehow, the process of turning basic materials into something that strangers around you are complimenting puts my brain in its own little paradise. I honestly owe my sanity to my ability to have my hands entertain my brain.

I cant wait to get back home and nap! Hospitals are not acceptable for any form of real rest.

Here we go!!

Hello everybody!

Im officially ready to get my jewelry and artwork into the world :)

The Bluebell Fox is all about providing beautiful pieces for everyone to love. See a piece you like but want it in a different color? Let me know! Custom orders are always welcomed and encouraged.

I work from my home studio where I live with my fiance and my kitty Margarita. I have to say I owe a lot to my fiance for allowing me to take up the living room to paint, cover the dining room table in paper scraps and ribbon, and forfeiting most of the space in our spare bedroom (as soon as our roomie moves out) so I can attempt to confine my artsy habits to one space.

Im always finding inspiration to try new things so if you stay tuned I can assure you that you will see some beautiful, silly, and sometimes downright crazy projects I get myself into along the way!

My Etsy site will be up as soon as I can get PayPal going! As always, I would love to hear from you!
